A filigree oval brooch of the Viking Age with an openwork motif in Borre Style.

This Klein Viking Celtic Brooch is modeled after the 9th-century type P 51, a popular oval design widely found across Viking settlements, especially western Norway. It reflects authentic Viking craftsmanship and heritage.

Handcrafted in high-quality bronze. Dimensions: 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" with a 1 1/2" pin. Eyelet at back allows a cord or chain to be connected so this piece can be worn as a pendant.

On the back is a stable spiral pin with latch - so this oval brooch is also suitable for a garment made of strong woollen fabric.

On the underside, the oval brooch is also equipped with a small eyeletin which a chain can be attached.

The oval brooch was an integral part of the Viking women's garmentsand was used to fasten the apron to the overdress when worn in pairs under the right and left shoulder.

In the period from 500 to 1000 AD, the oval brooch (also called bowl brooch, turtle brooch or tortoise brooch) was an indispensable part of the female costumein northern Europe. Therefore, oval brooches are quite often found in the women's graves of the Viking Age
