Solid Bronze Viking Brooch is based on a Finnish find from the 10th century.

This detailed Viking disc brooch can be used to close a cape or worn in a pairsto hold the apron, as was common in the Baltic and Finnish regions during the Viking Age.

Made entirely in high-quality bronze. Brooch measures 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" with a spring coil 1 1/4" pin with latch. Bale on the back allows the brooch to be worn as a pendant as well.

The centre of this brooch is dominated by a crossin the Borre style, the second of the artistic styles of the Viking Age. In combination with the serpentine braided bands, this highlights the combination of pagan and Christian elements in the art of the Vikings of this time and thus sheds light on the significant social upheavals of that period.

The Borre style was particularly widespread in eastern Scandinaviaas a design element for Viking jewelry.
